The Social Ministry and Outreach ministries at Trinity many and varied! As a church we keep our doors open to the community and actively seek out way to share the love of Christ with the city of Kalamazoo and beyond! If you’re looking for a way to plug in, you’ll find plenty of options here!

Throughout the year:

The Christ Clothes Closet is open on Tuesdays from 10am-2pm and serves anyone in need of clothing in any size. They accept donations of gently used clothing and shoes in all sizes year round and are always in need of new socks and underwear. They serve and average of 180 people a month.

We house a Loaves and Fishes Pantry where volunteers provide food Tuesdays from 11-1p.m.

The quilters meet on the 4th and 5th Thursday January through October. They complete 150-160 quilts or more each season! After they are displayed in church on Social Ministry Sunday, they are packed and sent by Lutheran World Relief wherever there is a need.

Every third Tuesday, we play Bingo at Ministry with Community and this has been a real success.

The SCRIP table sells gift cards after services each Sunday to support Trinity’s ministries.

Trinity supports LSSM (now Samaritas) by giving every child in their care a BACKPACK filled with school supplies each fall.

We support the local grassroots organization S.W.E.L.L. (Sharing with Everyone Lutheran Love). Their volunteers raise money to support LSSM foster kids, SEITA Scholars at WMU  and others in need.

Special projects:

In October we prepare shoe boxes for Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child

We sponsor the Angel Tree for the Salvation Army. This provides gifts and gift cards for children who might not have Christmas presents .

In the spring, we participate in the Crop Walk to raise money for Loaves and Fishes.

We provide lunch for Western students at Solid Grounds Student ministry for one month each year.

During Lent, we collect money and items for health kits which are sent to Lutheran World Relief.

Our members use Thrivent Grants to sponsor a variety of outreach projects.
